Atlas Orthogonal Chiropractic
Atlas Orthogonal is a revolutionary treatment for pain that is remarkably safe and effective.
Atlas Orthogonal refers to the atlas bone, the uppermost bone in the cervical spine. Located directly underneath the skull, the atlas bone derives its name from Atlas, the figure from Greek mythology who carried the world on his shoulders.
It has been determined that many of the health problems associated with spinal misalignment can be directly linked to the positioning of the atlas bone. Improper positioning can be caused by the strain of supporting the head, which on average, can weigh anywhere from nine to seventeen pounds. This strain can be exacerbated by additional factors such as poor posture or the habitual carrying of heavy objects in an unhealthy manner.
An improperly positioned atlas bone can lead to the hips becoming misaligned and, often, the misalignment of the spine as a whole.
When a patient receives Atlas Orthogonal treatment with Dr. Gregory Thomas, he or she first undergoes a series of x-rays. Together, these images create a three-dimensional view of the atlas bone to show Dr. Thomas how the bone and cervical spine are aligned, or misaligned, below the head.
He then determines the precise direction and degree of the misalignment to create a personalized treatment protocol. Next, Dr. Thomas uses a special instrument to send a percussion wave through to the patient’s atlas bone. There is no incision and the patient feels no pain. The instrument simply directs an impulse or vibration towards the atlas bone to gently push it back into proper alignment.
The Atlas Orthogonal procedure is completely non-invasive, and unlike many other treatments for spinal realignment, requires no physical, manual adjustment.
The Atlas Orthogonal method realigns the atlas bone and ultimately the cervical spine, leading to improved function in the central nervous system. This procedure helps to realign the spine, optimize communication between the brain and body, and encourages the body to fight off further misalignment on its own.
