Massage Therapy

Therapeutic Massage

Therapeutic Massage is a form of bodywork that improves anatomical functionality and stimulates the body’s natural healing ability.

With a thorough knowledge of the human anatomy, certified massage therapists employ a variety of techniques including stroking, kneading, cupping and compression.

All massage techniques involve touch, which is an important sensation proven to be linked to comfort and healing. When a healing touch is applied to the body, messages are sent to the brain to relax the body and release endorphins, the body’s natural painkiller.

The use of Therapeutic Massage in healing dates back to 3000 B.C.E. It is still one of the leading alternative healthcare options available today. Therapeutic Massage is the perfect supplement to all medical services offered here at Montvale Health Associates. As part of a modern therapeutic facility, we highly recommend incorporating massage therapy into your healthcare regimen for an overall feeling of wellness and balance of body, mind and spirit.

Massage Therapies Offered at Montvale Health Associates:

Therapeutic Massage:
Therapeutic Massage is a Swedish-based massage combined with a variety of modalities such as Myofascial Release, Trigger Point Therapy, Lomi Lomi Massage and Acupressure. A combination of soft tissue manipulations including long strokes, kneading, compression, rocking and deep spiraling movements are used to relax and rejuvenate you. Therapeutic Massage can be light and gentle, or, depending on the patient’s needs, firm and deep.

Deep Tissue Massage:
Deep Tissue Massage is designed to relieve severe tension in the muscle and the connective tissue or fascia. This type of massage focuses on the muscles located below the superficial layer of muscles. Deep tissue massage is often recommended for individuals who experience persistent pain, engage in heavy physical activity (such as athletes) or for patients who have sustained physical injury. Not to be confused with “Deep Pressure” Massage, Deep Tissue is used to treat particular musculoskeletal disorders and complaints and employs a dedicated set of techniques and strokes to achieve measurable relief.

Medical Massage:
Medical Massage focuses treatment on improving the specific condition a patient may present. A targeted treatment protocol, which may include a variety of modalities, is utilized with the intent to improve a patient’s condition that has been diagnosed by a physician. This may include conditions such as sciatica, headache, or neck pain.
